Clean Up Time!
Twice a year we give families an opportunity to help us spruce up the school. Join us on Saturday, January 21st between the hours of 8 and 11 am to share your talents. This is a great way to get your volunteer hours for the year. You can help us weed gardens, clean windows, trim trees, plant or spread mulch. If you are not able to attend and would like to donate plants or bags of mulch, we would appreciate the donation.
EHCS Students Visit the Kennedy Space Center
During Brevard County Space Week, our grade 6 students had the opportunity to visit NASA and the Kennedy Space Center to learn about space, technology, engineering, and our history. One of the favorite activities was the engineering challenge. They had to construct a “bridge” style truss to support up to twelve pounds. They were successful in their attempt and very proud of the teamwork. Two of the students from our school were selected to display their art work entitled “Past, Present, and Future” at the center.
We are very proud of all of our sixth grade students.
Save our Indian River Lagoon!
Students in grade 4 studied the Indian River Lagoon habitat. Next they went on a field trip to investigate this fragile ecosystem. They were very surprised to see the different species of life in our waterway.
This hands on experience will remind them to help preserve our rivers and estuaries in Florida.
About Lagoon Quest
Lagoon Quest is designed to integrate real-life experience with 4th grade curriculum covering Sunshine State Standards in science, social studies, math, and language arts using the rich environmental resources of the Indian River Lagoon. The program enables students to gain an appreciation and awareness of the fragile estuarine environment passing through our community and prepares students to make informed decisions that influence the quality of life in our area.
Lagoon Quest creates a sense of pride and feeling of ownership and responsibility in children so natural treasures such as the Indian River Lagoon will remain healthy and vibrant for generations to come.
Brevard Zoo is grateful to be a part of this unique program and would like to acknowledge and thank the Brevard Public School System for their partnership in the Lagoon Quest program.
EHCS Families Make Lap Blankets for Elderly
Families and students gathered to make “lap blankets” for our upcoming visit to the rehabilitation center for the elderly. These smaller sized blankets help keep legs warm while sitting in mobile chairs.
You can drop donations off in the office until Dec 14th. Our grades 5 & 6 will visit the residents, sing holiday songs, and distribute the blankets on December 15th.
Thank you for teaching children to give…
