One of the favorite activities was the engineering challenge. They had to construct a “bridge” style truss to support up to twelve pounds. They were successful in their attempt and very proud of the teamwork. Two of the students from our school were selected to display their art work entitled “Past, Present, and Future” at the center.

    About Lagoon Quest

irl2Lagoon Quest is designed to integrate real-life experience with 4th grade curriculum covering Sunshine State Standards in science, social studies, math, and language arts using the rich environmental resources of the Indian River Lagoon. The program enables students to gain an appreciation and awareness of the fragile estuarine environment passing through our community and prepares students to make informed decisions that influence the quality of life in our area.

Lagoon Quest creates a sense of pride and feeling of ownership and responsibility in children so natural treasures such as the Indian River Lagoon will remain healthy and vibrant for generations to come.

Brevard Zoo is grateful to be a part of this unique program and would like to acknowledge and thank the Brevard Public School System for their partnership in the Lagoon Quest program.

EHCS Families Make Lap Blankets for Elderly

Families and students gathered to make “lap blankets” for our upcoming visit to the rehabilitation center for the elderly. These smaller sized blankets help keep legs warm while sitting in mobile chairs.

Parents helped run the booths and donated awesome prizes and sweet treats. The theme for the day was “Math is a cool choice!”

Spreading FALL cheer to the elderly residents of West Melbourne Rehabilitation Center is a wonderful way to learn about helping others and service during Red Ribbon Week. Our students in grades 3 and 4 prepared song, showed their seasonal spirit and shared a cup of cider with their new friends.

“Love can build a bridge”… is the final theme for our Red Ribbon Week. Our grade 1 and 2 students shared a song and motions to this beautiful song. We are very proud of our students for committing to making good choices and saying no to destructive behavior. Let’s continue to support this theme all year!
