EHCS Families Make Lap Blankets for Elderly

Families and students gathered to make “lap blankets” for our upcoming visit to the rehabilitation center for the elderly. These smaller sized blankets help keep legs warm while sitting in mobile chairs.

  • A Look Back at Red Ribbon Week

A Look Back at Red Ribbon Week

We began Monday of Red Ribbon Week with a Math Carnival for grades 3, 4, 5 & 6. Students had to solve questions and earn tickets along the way. One of the favorite activity was the pie throw. Parents helped run the booths and donated awesome prizes and sweet treats. The theme for the day was “Math is a cool choice!”

Spreading FALL cheer to the elderly residents of West Melbourne Rehabilitation Center is a wonderful way to learn about helping others and service during Red Ribbon Week. Our students in grades 3 and 4 prepared song, showed their seasonal spirit and shared a cup of cider with their new friends.

Grades 1 and 2 are hard at work doing math activities. They are learning to be independent and growing in confidence as the use number sense.

Our students in grades 1 and 2 are using Becky Bailey’s Shubert’s BIG Voice to learn how to stand up for themselves and use their words. They are practicing with peers and led our school’s pep rally to promote anti-bullying this week.

“Love can build a bridge”… is the final theme for our Red Ribbon Week. Our grade 1 and 2 students shared a song and motions to this beautiful song. We are very proud of our students for committing to making good choices and saying no to destructive behavior. Let’s continue to support this theme all year!

    Monday, October 24th – Friday, October 28th

Our school is participating with the country to say “NO” to destructive behavior. This includes drugs, alcohol, bullying, being unkind, hurting self or others… Join us in taking time daily to talk to your children about making GOOD CHOICES for LIFE!

Each classroom (GRADES K-6) is picking a THEME for the week. They will each help us begin the day with a quick activity. Each student is asked to create a poster (no bigger than legal size paper) showing their class theme.

They can use words, pictures, or slogans to get the message out. Each class will have one winner to be displayed in our school. Turn in entries to you homeroom by TUESDAY, October 25th. Please write your name and grade on the BACK of the poster.

Educational Horizons Receives Energy Education Kits

One of our school goals last year was to seek out ways to add to our Science program. We are pleased to announce that our application was chosen to receive an Energy Curricula and Learning Kit that focuses on Solar Matter for Elementary schools.

This hands on kit will be used in all classrooms this year. The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services made this opportunity available for select schools this year. Two of our fourth graders were there to receive and open the kit.
